Succulent Plant - Digital Collage Illustration

This succulent plant has so many random textures hidden within its leaves. Chopped celery, a placemat at Target and a charred park bench just to name a few. The layers of leaves go through several stages of life during the creation of a piece like this, altering the colors, shadows and textures until I'm happy with the look. Edging the leaves with thin lines of white gives them a paperlike look and adding shadows behind each layer help them to separate and pop. Botanicals are one of my favorites subjects. The shapes and layers allow for so much artistic freedom.
